On Thursday January 10th, three years after the death of pop icon David Bowie, Debonair Music Hall in Teaneck will present a concert to honor his music. A fundraiser for The American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life of Fair Lawn & Glen Rock, the concert features a stellar cast in a variety of musical genres, from pop to jazz, folk to rock, bluegrass to R&B.

Featured artists are frontman to The Infamous Stringdusters (2018 Grammy Winners for Best
Bluegrass Album) Andy Falco, celebrated banjo player Tony Trischka, and indie folk-rock favorite
Jill Sobule. Also on the bill: saxophonist Eddie Barbash, Corporate Punk, featuring Sean Trischka
and Isa Burke, and local standouts Loren Daniels/Valerie Johnson/Reggie Pittman/David
Wofford. “January 8 th marks Bowie’s birthday and the 10 th is the three year anniversary of his
death to cancer,” said Assunta Trischka, Volunteer Event Lead for Fair Lawn’s Relay For Life,
and whose fund-raising team is producing this benefit concert. She adds: “My favorite description
of Bowie comes from Yale Professor Daphne Brooks, who said he was an ‘artistic rule-breaker, a
spectacular dreamer and a sonic daredevil.’ I couldn’t agree more and am excited to celebrate
that legacy.”

The Relay For Life movement is the world’s largest fundraising event dedicated to fighting
cancer. Uniting communities across the globe, through special ceremonies and laps, it honors
those currently battling cancer, remembers loved ones lost, and takes action for lifesaving
change. In addition to the walk itself, Relays include special ceremonies and laps, activities,
entertainment, and more. Team members take turns walking around a track and participate in
fundraising in the months leading up to the event, such as hosting events like this Prince concert.
Monies raised help the ACS provide free information and support for people facing the disease
today, and fund cancer research that will help protect future generations. ACS has invested more
than $4.3 billion in research since 1946, and has funded more than 20,000 scientists, including
47 Nobel laureates.
